Apartment in Korea

Finally, we have our apartment organized. It took us a few days, and many different furniture layouts, but we've finally found one that we love and have found a place for everything. The apartment has a surprising amount of storage, and in general is much bigger than we were expecting. Also, we found this in the trash:

Yep, definitely found a flat screen TV outside the dumpster, along with a bookshelf. We think the bookshelf was part of the apartment complex somehow, because is matches our closets to a T. Generally, Koreans tend to throw a lot of things out that are still in great condition, which is great for us and all the other foreigners here!

We were pleased to find that the apartment is bigger than we expected. When we arrived, we were told multiple times that Hans English teachers have the biggest apartments out of any other school. We feel incredibly fortunate to not be squished into a little studio. Here is the main living area:

The third picture is the view when you walk in the door. Here we don't have to carry around a key for the apartment, we just punch in our key code to the door. It's nice not having to worry about locking ourselves out of the apartment! Here is the kitchen:

Korea apartmentIt actually has a decent amount of storage! That is the washer underneath the stove top. There aren't really conventional ovens here, so we use a toaster oven.

Here's a picture of a closet, which is one of two in the entryway:

And the loft, which is our bedroom:

You can't stand up in it, but it's really nice to have a separate sleeping space! There's also a desk up there, which has been Nate's favorite perch. It's nice to be in the same area, but not tripping over each other. We also have a stunning view of the mountain range, and on a clear day it's really beautiful. The pictures don't quite do it justice, but we tried!
