The past couple months I've been working hard to "greenify" my laundry routine.

I started out with homemade laundry detergent, and then began using wool dryer balls in place of dryer sheets. Not only am I saving the environment from at least one household's worth of chemicals and plastic waste, I am also saving a TON of money! Have you looked at the prices of all natural laundry products lately? Either you pay through the nose or you get a detergent loaded with tons of harmful chemicals.

Besides that, I love being able to hand-pick the scent of my laundry by what I incorporate into the detergent, or what oils I drop onto the wool dryer balls.

I soon began a search for how to make all natural fabric softener, and was thrilled to find I can use one simple ingredient I ALWAYS have: vinegar! That's right folks. Today's "Green Clean Monday" isn't a project, it is simply to tell you that you can have amazingly soft towels and clothes by just adding a 1/4 cup of vinegar to your load.

One thing I was worried about was a "vinegary" smell being on my clothes, but there is not a trace of it when your clothes come out of the wash. Simply load up your washer like normal, add your laundry detergent, and pour 1/4 cup of white vinegar where your softener would go. Voila! You've got yourself and all natural, chemical free load of laundry! Try it out and let me know if it works for you in the comments below!
